Radio Skid Row is an inner-city community radio station
broadcasting to
the municipalities of Leichhardt, Marrickville and
the City of Sydney
which places a special emphasis on community
language and youth
programs. The station has a commitment to
working for marginalised
members of the community.
The station has been on air for more than twenty-five years.
It broadcasts 24 hours a day seven days a week from studios in
Marrickville. In its history Radio Skid Row has been through at
least
two major technical overhauls that included repositioning
and replacement
of the station’s antenna and transmitter situated
on top of the Sydney City Council Office Building in the CBD.
The station has continued to provide access to the community with more
than fifteen different language groups, youth organisations and other
special interest groups using the facility every week. Radio Skid Row
is operated mostly by dedicated Volunteers.
